• St.John’s school, was founded in the year 1990-91, by Late Bishop Michael Bosco Duraisamy. It had just 19 teaching and non-teaching staff with a single floor building.

  • Late Rev.Fr.Irudayanathan, an experienced educationist and scholar in Mathematics, took charge as the first principal of St.John’s.

  • The first batch of matriculation students passed out in the year 1994-95 and subsequently the first batch of Higher Secondary students passed out in the year 1996-97.

  • The hostel facility was added in the year 1993-94 and an additional wing was constructed in 2002-03, with a capacity to accommodate about 75 students. Aula Magna-the great hall, was inaugurated in the year 1997-98.

  • St.John’s is an independent, day school for boys, presenting a 14-year sequence of college preparatory training. It is a non-profit institution, run by the catholic diocese of Salem.

  • It is recognized by the state Government of Tamilnadu and follows the Tamilnadu Government’s Matriculation Board syllabus from First to Tenth standard. For the eleventh and twelfth standards, it follows the Tamilnadu State Higher Secondary Syllabus.

  • Today it provides education for about 2700 students with about 100 teaching and non-teaching staff. There are five sections A, B, C, D and E for each standard from 1 to 10th. In the Kinder Garten(KG) section, there are four sections A, B, C and D. In the higher secondary, there are three sections with four groups. There are separate labs for Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science for the Matriculation and Higher Secondary students.

  • Football, Hockey, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Lawn Tennis, Skating, Gymnastics, Carom, Chess, Yoga, Scouts, Eco-club, Young Students Movement, Holy Childhood club, National Service Scheme(NSS), National Cadet Cops(NCC), Interact Club are some of the many extra curricular facilities offered currently.

  • The school is named after St.John, the Apostle. He became the “beloved disciple” and the only one of the Twelve who did not forsake Jesus in the hour of His Passion. He stood faithfully at the cross when the Saviour made him the guardian of His Mother. The school adopted him as its patron, in order that all who study and serve here, will imbibe that strong faith in achieving their goals. His Feast day is celebrated on December 27th.
